DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (August 10, 2009) - Scott
Lagasse Jr. drove the America's Incredible Pizza
Chevrolet to victory lane in the SCCA/V8 Stock Car
Road Racing Series event at Daytona International
Speedway (DIS) on Sunday.
After being replaced by NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
regular Denny Hamlin in the CJM Racing No. 11
starting with Saturday's NASCAR Nationwide Series
event at Watkins Glen, Lagasse decided to gain road-
racing experience by entering the event at DIS. In only
his second career road race, Lagasse started on the
pole, set a new race-lap record and won Sunday's
event in a car that he owns.
"It was a last-minute decision to enter the race," said
Lagasse, Jr. "We only had a few days leading up to
the race to get the car ready and I was really just
looking to get a little more road racing experience.
"We never expected to do as well as we did and I want
to thank America's Incredible Pizza for sticking with
me and making it all possible. It felt good to get back
to victory lane and it was great to give Incredible Pizza
their first win.
"Our goal is to get back into NASCAR Nationwide
Series competition as soon as possible and we feel
confident that we'll put together a deal that will benefit
the right team, me and the sponsors."
Additional road racing at the famed track is also a goal
of the 27-year old St. Augustine, Fla. native.
"The V8 race gave me some extra track time on
Daytona's road course which will be helpful in
securing a ride in the Daytona 24 Hours this coming
January.
"That would be cool."
