Scott Lagasse Jr. admits that it's easy to get caught up in the frustration of being replaced by his NASCAR Nationwide Series team. After 20 starts with CJM Racing on the NASCAR Nationwide Series, Lagasse is being replaced in the No. 11 Toyota by Sprint Cup Series driver Denny Hamlin.

St. Augustine stock car driver Scott Lagasse Jr. finished third in a GT Series event at Daytona International Speedway on Aug. 10. Lagasse, who drove for JTG Racing in the NASCAR Craftsman Trucks Series for half of the season, was forced to start 58th after missing qualifying. Lagasse turned in the fastest lap of the event on the road course -- a 2:00.881.

Dropping the green flag to fun outdoors
About 500 volunteers spent Wednesday building a playground at the Kennedy Campus of Elon Homes for Children. It was the 31st playground -- and first in Charlotte -- built by Racing to Play, a program sponsored by Home Depot, the NASCAR Foundation, Joe Gibbs Racing and KaBOOM!, a nationwide organization that creates places where children can play near their homes.
